About the Black Madeline Salmon Atlantic Fly

The Black Madeline is a family of modern salmon flies designed for Icelandic rivers, tied on small micro trebles to cope with low, clear water conditions where a subtle silhouette and clean movement outfish bulky dressings.

The Madelines are very sparse, minimalist dressing. A slim, dark wing/underwing with just enough movement in the fibres to breathe on the swing, and the compact micro-treble footprint that keeps the whole presentation refined. It’s the kind of fly you fish with confidence when salmon are sitting tight and you need something small, mobile, and non-threatening.

Fishing Tips:

The Madeline range covers all likely low-water eventualities via different colour variants e.g. Black/Yellow and silver/blue

How to Fish the Madeline

  • Fish it on a floating line with a long leader, or a very light intermediate if you need the fly just under the film.
  • Let it swing and hang. Micro trebles often get taken right at the end of the swing when the fly pauses and lifts.
