About the Lunn's Particular Trout Flies Fly
William Lunn was the keeper on the River Test, a position he held for 45 years from 1887 to 1932. He devised the admirable Lunn's Particular in 1917 and it still fishes well not only on the chalk streams of southern England for where it was originally intended but on waters all around the world.
It is particularly successful when spinner stage insects are floating on the surface.
No dry fly fisherman's fly box can be complete without this outstanding pattern.
"It kills well when fish are taking olives and is marvellously good when they are shy or taking spinners. If I had to be limited to one fly, I should choose this."
Major J W Hills (River Keeper).
