About the Governor Trout Fly

The original Governor was created by T C Hofland as an imitation of a beetle in the 1830s for use on his home waters in the south of England. There are now many variants that are successful on both sides of the Atlantic.

The Governor works well on hot summers days and is especially good when near reeds, overgrown banks and overhanging trees.

Expert Tip:

Cast upsteam at such angle to a surface feeding trout so that no tippet or leader should land in the trouts' sight window.
