About the March Brown Spinner Trout Fly

The March Brown Spinner, sometimes referred to as the Great Red Spinner. was created for rough and tumble waters.

Hatches of the 'true' March Brown usually occur in March and April, around midday andin vast numbers.

This fly is an important addition to the fly box of any early season fisherman.

Expert Tip:

The great error of Fly Fishing, as usually practised, is that the angler fishes downstream whereas he should fish up.

Pattern Dressings

  • Hook : 14-18.
  • Thread : Brown.
  • Tail : Red cock hackle fibres.
  • Body : Red seal's fur.
  • Rib : Fine gold wire.
  • Wing : Tips or fibres of medium blue dun cock hackles.
  • Hackle : Red cock.
