About the Kite's Imperial Trout Flies Fly

Oliver Kite created this pattern with the enlarged thorax creating a 'silhouette trigger' and it quickly became a 'standard' dry river fly.

It has been deceiving trout ever since, seeming to resemble many different specie of duns.

Expert Tip:

Major Oliver Kite died during a fishing trip in 1968.

This trout flies fly is designed to be fished on Rivers & Streams

Dressings

  • Hook : 12-20.
  • Thread : Purple.
  • Tail : Grey, brown or ginger at the beginning of the season and gradually lightning to honey dun hackle fibres towards the later end of the season.
  • Body : Heron herl.
  • Rib : Fine gold wire.
  • Thorax : Heron herl.
  • Hackle : Honey dun. ginger or sandy dun can also be used as an option.
